Jolt Credit Union is seeking a Business Relationship Officer for our State Street Branch in Saginaw. About this position:

Financial institution operations experience required; commercial lending and/or SBA experience, formal credit training and/or accounting background preferred.

The Business Relations Officer is primarily responsible for the following:

  • Deliver service to both coworkers and members that is in alignment with the credit union's Service Promise: Giving it all we've got, every day and everywhere.
  • Meet all sales goals as established.
  • Meet all member service goals as measured by Member and Mystery Shops, including any internal service measurement tools.
  • Demonstrate enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values and long-term objectives.
  • Recommend necessary training programs.
  • Advise staff of policies and procedures verbally, in writing, or through job training.
  • Gather information and make decisions/take action deemed necessary based on problems, inquiries, or requests (member or staff) received.
  • Responsible to uphold the principle of privileged communication.
  • Plan, prioritize, and delegate workflow; responsible to notify COO where work is not completed.
  • Source and develop new commercial loan requests for new & existing members.
  • Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.
  • Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
  • Explain to members the different types of loans and credit options that are available, as well as the terms of those services.
  • Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants' credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information.
  • Review and update credit and loan files.
  • Submit applications to loan committee for verification and recommendation. Approves certain loans up to granted authority limit.
  • Forwards loan files and works with third party (Commercial Alliance) for underwriting and quality control.
  • Handle member complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Work with members to identify their financial goals and to find ways of reaching those goals.
  • Develops and implements all loan types in Episys to ensure proper boarding, reporting and system calculations.
  • Responsible for the implementation of internal controls.
  • Market Credit Union products to individuals and firms, promoting Credit Union services that may meet member's needs.
  • Analyze potential loan markets and develop referral networks in order to locate prospects for loans.
  • Stay abreast of new types of loans and other financial services and products in order to better meet customers' needs.

A successful Business Relations Officer will also possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years financial institution operations experience.
  • Commercial lending and/or SBA experience strongly preferred.
  • Formal credit training and/or Accounting background preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents related to the lending process - procedures, regulations, legal, and financial documents.
  • Strong knowledge of lending products as well as credit union specific products and services.
  • Microsoft Outlook or similar email/calendar program and Microsoft Office suite knowledge.
